On June 4th and 5th, 2016 La Grange Courthouse square comes to life with the 17th annual Arts on the Green, a juried fine arts and crafts festival, with, original handcrafted painting, mixed media, photography, ceramics, sculpture, glass, jewelry, candles, special foods and soaps, metal, wood and fiber. Come meet 150 + artists from local to national artists to include featured artists who also exhibit at St. James Court Art Show, Cherokee Triangle, Mellwood and more. Hours for the Art Festival are 10-5 pm Sat and Sun. A prospectus and application for the 2016 Arts on the Green is available on our Show Application and info page
Art is for all ages. We encourage our younger artists to enter Arts on the Green Note Card Contest. Two winners are selected from 8 years and under, and the nine years and older age groups. Prizes are awarded in the fall plus their art work is featured on our AOG note cards for 2015-2016. There is also free face painting and other children activities. The best of the best Oldham County student art work is featured in The Emerging Artist Booth. Art works included feature Oldham County High School students, Arts Association scholarship winners for 2017, and last years’ AOG Kid’s note card winners.
Awesome food vendors are available throughout the show serving breakfast to dinner with assorted sandwiches, Greek, and BBQ. Then, stop the craves with delicious candied nuts, soft serve ice cream, funnel cakes and more. Sit down, and take a rest while enjoying a cold beer or sip on wine while listening to Americana Music on both days performed on the Woodsongs Coffeehouse Stage, hosted by Tim Curtis, and sponsored by Oldham County Parks and Recreation under the tent.
Take a moment to visit the Oldham County History Center- “Colonial Trade Faire” adjacent to Arts on the Green. The Faire exhibits vendors in the 1700’s in authentic costumes and selling fares of that time period. It is worth the trip back in time to visit.
Saturday from 5-7 pm, join us for our traditional “wine down” after the show. Music continues during Happy Hour at the 2nd Street Gazebo. We are all about enjoying the evening with friends. All are welcome.
Make it a destination to enjoy the arts, food, libations, and music.
