Description
Time: 2:00 - 4:00 pm
Level: No experience necessary. Adults only.
Instructor: Annette Summers
I earned a BS in Studio Art from Murray State University where I gained working knowledge of Drawing, Painting, 2D and 3D Design, Printmaking, Weaving, Pottery, and Sculpture. I’ve worked with resin for 8 years. I’ve taught machine sewing, knitting, macramé, jewelry making, and glass resin art.
Goal:
Everyone will make their own glass/ceramic flower captured under resin in a wood shadow box. An example will be provided. I would highly recommend that the art piece stay overnight at Gallery 104, emphasizing the need to keep the art piece level for at least 4 hours and not touched for 12 hours. If the student cannot arrange to do this, I will provide a covered container in which to put the art piece for transporting home.
Have fun!!!
Content:
Everyone will paint their shadow box and select glass/ceramic pieces to make a flower. Color will be discussed as the student makes their selections. I will provide design possibilities using the variety of materials supplied. And, most importantly, resin safety will be reviewed.
Materials:
All materials needed will be supplied for this class: wood shadow box, paint, brushes, glass/ceramic pieces, resin, latex glove, and straw. If a student has the desire to use a ceramic piece of their own, I will bring tools to safely break-up that piece for them. I would advise that the student could get paint on their clothes.
